Ueno Park

Domenica pomeriggio ho fatto un salto a Ueno, zona di Tokyo prossima ad Asakusa, per visitare il grande parco che ospita, lo Ueno Park appunto (non so ancora leggere il nome giapponese che ho sulla mappa ). Non mi sono fermato molto tempo perché qui fa buio presto ma ho potuto farmi un’idea delle enormi dimensioni dell’area verde. Ho vagato per la zona vicino al lago del parco, il quale è sostanzialmente diviso in tre parti, una delle quali è letteralmente ricoperta di piante ad alto fusto che non permettono di vedere l’acqua e formano un mare di foglie… suggestivo. In un’altra parte, più piccola, è possibile noleggiare barchette a remi di varie forme, il sogno di ogni coppietta abbastanza sdolcinata… sigh.

Praticamente in mezzo al lago, su un’isoletta collegata a terra da una lingua di terreno, c’è un piccolo tempio (o altare, non so come distinguerli ancora). Intorno c’erano delle statue, mentre varie bancarelle cingevano il sentiero che conduceva dal bordo del lago al tempio.

On Sunday afternoon I went to Ueno, a quartier not far form Asakusa, to visit the big park inside, Ueno Park of course (I can’t read the Japanese name on the map yet ). I didn’t stay long because here it gets dark early but I could get the idea of the huge extension of the green area. I roamed around the park’s lake, which is divided in three parts; one of these is completely covered with long shafted plants that don’t allow to see the water and create a sea of leaves… impressive. In another smaller part of the lake you can rent different kinds of boats with oars, the dream of every couple corny enough… sigh.

In middle of the lake, on a small island connected to earth with a land bridge, there’s a small temple (or shrine, I still can’t distinguish them yet). All around there were statues, and some stands on the sides of the path that goes from the border of the lake to the temple.
